A friend just introduced me to Lecrae, an American Christian hip hop artist. I was skeptical at first, because the little Christian hip hop I'd heard had been pretty cheesy.
But this is decent stuff with good production values. I played it at work, to a very diverse crowd, and people liked it!
Lecrae is giving away his Church Clothes album as a mixtape - free! On the mixtape discussion page, I was struck by the number of people who said they were atheists or the furthest thing from Christians and still enjoyed this music.
It's so nice to hear a positive message from a talented hip hop/rap artist! No guns, drugs, or misogyny. Just the good word, with a good beat and some melody.
